X 74's Songtext Page

Short Description

On this page, you will find just the lyrics of the songs you are interested in. That is, if you like alternative music. Fortunately for you, my taste in music is quite broad (all depending on the mental state I am in).

All songtexts are arranged by the band that made them, and these are all classified in general music sorts: my possible mental states. Note that some bands may be classified within a few groups; in this case, I have placed it with the group I think represents most of their songs (for as far as I know, of course). Therefore, the group "My Dying Bride" is classified with the depressive, melodical music.

In the early days, I personally typed all songtexts out by hand on my computer; I did not have any Internet access. But since the big outside world has revealed itself to me, I have also gathered some songtexts from the 'net. Until now, I only used them for my personal purposes, so all info on who transcribed the lyrics is lost on the early ones. Therefore, if you yourself also have posted some songtexts on the net, and the song you read seems to be written in exactly your style (although this is quite hard, concerning songtexts...), your hunch might be correct.

Note!: In case you are reading these songtexts along with the songs, and you think: 'But this is totally not what I hear?!?!': I haven't thoroughly checked every single one of them. Parts of the text I couldn't quite figure out, are marked with @-signs. If you find some incorrect parts or know what has to be placed in between the @-marks, mail me at [email protected] and I will see what I can do about it. Also mail me at this address if you think you have the texts of some songs that really belong on this page.

O.K., enough words spilled already. Let's give you the really important stuff: each link brings you to a text file with all the songtexts I have gathered so far about that band. Each heading of each song looks like this:

Name of song / Name of band (Name of cd/lp/whatever)

All list items marked with * are my personal favorites. If you just want all of the songtexts (and not download every single file): I also gathered all songtexts in one big text file.

(No-)nonsense energetic fun stuff *

-whenever you feel like you can have it all.

Depressive, melodically melancholic, impressive, spirit-breaking down-casting music *

-for those never-ending rainy autumn nights and the times you really do not see the purpose of living anymore.

Kick-ass style

-whenever you experience a mix of: 1) unlimited energy + 2) hyperactivity + 3) a red haze in your eyes.

Easy-listening light music with some occasional uproars

-When just in the mood to relax and enjoy a little.

Relaxating mind-drifting light stuff

-just the stuff when feeling a bit melancholic; when applied in high enough doses, leads to abusive use of the 'Depressive'-music group.

Weird psychotic tunes

-When feeling light-headed or just plain stoned or quite drunk. Amazing effects when listened under these circumstances.

Other stuff I haven't quite figured out where to place

-When in all other sorts of moods.
